A Trip to Auntie C's
Over
the weekend of August 5, we loaded up the Toaster (that's what we
call our Scion xB) and headed for Wytheville, Virginia to visit
Allen's sister Carolyn and her husband Bill. Mitchell calls them
"Auntie C" and "Big Bill". We stayed at a hotel
on the way down, which Mitchell enjoyed very much. At Auntie C's
we saw a band play at a local park, visited a fair in Bland, Virginia
where Bill works, and just generally had a great time!

About Airplanes
On
a warm summer night this year we had the great experience of flying
with Doc Cottingham in his Citabria airplane. Doc also turned out
to be an excellent teacher as well. Besides explaining the different
parts of the airplane, he also taught Robin the difference between
field corn, sweet corn, and those little tiny ears of corn you see
in salads!

Busy Fourth of July Holiday
We
really kept the patriotic
spirit going! On
Monday night (July 3rd) we had our own fireworks celebration in
the backyard. On Tuesday the Fourth it rained in West Lafayette
around noon so we headed for Greg & Kelli Pearson's house in
Independence. We all went down the road to Danny & Suzanne Pearson's
to visit and swim. Then we zipped back to West Lafayette in time
to catch the orchestra and fireworks on Slayter Hill at Purdue.

Hot
Potato Hot Potato!
Some
people dream of seeing their favorite artists in concert. For some,
it might be Springsteen. Others, U2. For Allen, it's The Stone Roses
(although that probably will never happen.) But for Mitchell...it's
The Wiggles. His dream came true when we drove to Evansville, Indiana
in May to see the Aussies in action. It was an awesome show! Mitchell
was mesmerized during the entire performance. |

The day before the concert we drove to Corydon, Indiana and
stayed at the home of Bruce, Debbie, Leah and Andrew Johannes.
Bruce has a tractor and real cows!
|

And
don't forget Henry the Octopus, Dorothy the
Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword and Wags the Dog!
|
|
|

The Wiggles drove out on stage in The Big Red Car...
Greg, Anthony, Murray, and of course, Jeff!
